Hello!
I want to start keeping myself busy by reading books again. For context, I'm a young guy who was recently diagnosed with anxiety, and a panic disorder which is unfortunately keeping me indoors. I'm taking meds and undergoing therapy so all is good. I remember the days where reading would make me feel relaxed and content. So that's why at a time where I'm mostly at home, I want to pick up reading again during my mental health treatment; I think it'll keep me distracted and relaxed.
So for the book I'm looking for, I would probably want to avoid dark themes but I also don't want a book that's all "ponies and rainbows". Books that I absolutely adored were:
- Perks of Being a Wallflower
- A really light, introspective book about friendship that also explores some deeper themes (not entirely light-hearted though). I really like the social aspect of the book.
- All of the harry potter books
- Super light-hearted and I love, love, love fantasy. (Happy and wholesome up until the last few books of course)
- I read through half of the hobbit, but then stopped because I was studying a ton. But that was great.
Again I'm not much of a reader, but I really love fantasy themes and light dramas. I also really like slice of life stuff (is that a thing?).
My favourite movies/shows are:
- 500 days of summer
- her
- lost in translation
- all of lord of the rings
- before sunset
- before sunrise
- Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
- All the studio ghibli movies.
- Rocky horror picture show
- Queens gambit (mini series)
- Community (tv series)
- Bocchi the rock (anime)
- And a lot of arthouse films.
Hope that gives you enough info about what I might like :D. Looking forward to your book recs.
