I have 2 daughters (one is 12 and the other is 9). One thing I get for them for Christmas is a book.
The 12 year old is an avid reader. She likes Hunger Games and a lot of manga (Sakamoto Days, Cat + Gamer and Naruto are a few). In the past, Wings of Fire seemed to be all she would talk about. There was a period she liked Warriors, Minecraft books, and Wild Robot. She didn’t really care for Harry Potter and the Hobbit. I read the Hobbit with her and it wasn’t well liked.
The 9 year old likes graphic novels. She likes Babysitter Club, Big Nate and Sweet Valley Twins. She used to like Dogman and A to Z mysteries. She isn’t as avid a reader but will read at times. She usually likes audiobooks or being read to.
I don’t really want to get manga or a graphic novel. I want them to spend more time reading it. The older one really just flies through them. Any ideas or questions?
