idk if this is hyper specific, but I’ve been trying to find books that encapsulate how I felt reading fantasy books as a kid. i loved adventure books where 4-6 characters create found family and often to survive in the wild/traveling/changing circumstances and they have lots of different interesting dynamics with each other. Or a found family friend group type thing in a boarding school, always love those if it’s written well.
I want a side plot romance thats a true slow burn, because as a kid authors often do not make romance the center of the story at all, but they drop very small and sparse hints. I loved that so much as a kid. the books I read now feel like the romance moves so fast and is fully established by the first book. I want to enjoy the process!!
does anyone else relate to this? I’ve never been on this subreddit before so I have no idea what posts are common so apologies if something like this has come up a lot.
I enjoyed kids books like:
Heroes of Olympus, spirit animals, Harry Potter and the deathly hallows specifically, uglies, the hunger games, the land of stories, winds of fire, keeper in f the lost cities, the lunar chronicles
