Hello everyone,
I’m trying to get into reading as a hobby and I’m not sure where to start. I’m mainly interested in self-growth and sci-fi, but I’m open to any book that’s easy to get into and keeps me hooked.
I want to know
What was the first book that made you enjoy reading and turned it into a habit?
How did you build a consistent reading routine?
And based on my interests, what book would you recommend I start with?

When I was a teenager it was A Song Of Ice And Fire (game of thrones)
And then as an adult the Welcome To Nightvale novels got me back into reading
For me it was the Spin trilogy, by Robert Charles Wilson (sci-fi).
It was Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles that started it for me.
In order to be more consistent I had to switch to audiobooks. Could not focus while reading a book but am the complete opposite when it comes to audiobooks.
Not sure I can recommend any specific books to you but generally speaking, stoicism is something that has helped me on a personal level.
What kind of things are you interested in? For example movies? Do you like documentaries? If so, look in Non fiction, do you like romantic comedies, look in Romantic fiction. The way I started picking good books was by going to the library. In each section they usually have a few books on display, I would read the synopsis on the books to find the ones I was interested to see how it turned out. Just look. Not every book is AMAZING, but some are more than that. I fell in love with Little Women.
For me it was The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
