Hello – I'm currently working on the 52 Book Club Connections Challenge and one of the prompts is to have someone recommend a book based on my review of the previous book.
In my case, the book is Luck in the Shadows.
I really enjoyed the "Bromantasy" (by which I mean books that feature strong bromances/male friendships and fantasy plots/settings. Things like Greatcoats, Gentleman Bastards, Riyria, Kings of the Wyld, ect). I think Flewelling did a great job hitting that mark. I also really liked the adventurous elements of the story and the casual humor. This book did have genuine stakes which I like but isn't necessary. Queer rep would also be a plus but not a necessity.
One thing I would've liked more of was character exploration/development (which I expect will come with time for this series). I love getting to explore the psychology of a character and how the things they're tangled up in impacts them.
Any suggestions?
