    1. I’m sorry for your loss. I found ***The Year of Magical Thinking*** by Joan Didion was helpful when I lost my dad. Also, ***Grief Is a Journey*** by Dr. Kenneth J. Doka
      Wishing you well.

    2. ‘Notes on Grief’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It’s just 80-odd pages long but the words do have a profound effect.

I am sorry for your loss. The following books are memoirs, but some degree of religiosity might creep in in the way the author or the family of the ill and deceased respond to their circumstances.

      1. When breath becomes air – Kalanithi, a promising neurosurgeon, is diagnosed with terminal cancer, forcing him to confront his own mortality from the other side of the medical divide.
      2. Grace and Grit by Ken Wilber – It is the story of the five-year journey of Ken Wilber and his wife Treya Killam Wilber through Treya’s illness, treatment, and, finally, death.

The Grieving Brain by Mary-Frances O’Connor really helped our family. Particularly my partner who began having panic attacks as a result of the unprocessed grief. It helped us to understand what grief was, and why/ how it affects us from a scientific and biological pov. It created just enough understanding to remove some of the resistance and shame that we all had to some degree or another over ‘still’ grieving and not ‘getting past it’.
I’m sorry for your loss. I hope you find some comfort <3
