Sort of niche, but I'm looking for books with botanical/plant-based body horror – think vines growing under your skin or similar. Mushroom-y stuff also good. I have read and enjoyed:
– Jeff Vandermeer's Annihilation Series (although the movie has more plant body horror than the books, I feel)
– "The Ruins" by Scott Smith
– "The Wilds" by Vita Ayala
– "What Moves the Dead" by T. Kingfisher
– "Mexican Gothic" by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Any other suggestions?
