“The Dangers of Smoking In Bed” definitely meets No. 3 (missing children turn up years later but haven’t aged) and may also match No 1. and 8. (It’s been a while since I read it)
Julia Armfield’s “Private Rites” matches No. 6 if the town being plagued by never-ending rain is allowed to be London Town.
Cormoran strike books by jk Rowling under the pen name Robert galbraith. Cormoran is a private eye in London, who list his leg to an IED blast during millitary service. I have read the first four books and they are all awesome, reviews for all seven books are great
