it’s so hard to find stuff without romance these days! the hobbit might actually be a good fit for you, lots of adventure and not a single romance plot in sight.

I’m curious as to why depictions of someone getting disemboweled by a raptor is acceptable but a story where two people might have a love interest as a minor subplot to a much larger and more interesting story is bad.
Please explain.

Yahtzee Croshaw, funny author with great characters.
Differently Morphus and Existentially Challenged – Governmental agency involved in the regulation of magic and extra dimensional beings.
Mogworld – Main character is undead. Hijinks ensue.
L.G. Estrella’s Unconventional Heros Series
The 2 Necromancers series. 2 Necromancers try to earn a pardon for past crimes by doing odd jobs for a kingdom. Strong found family vibe. The first book in the series is 2 Necromancers, A Bureaucrate, and an Elf.
Attempted Vampirism Series. A vampire noble has his castle repossessed for back taxes. He becomes an adventurer to try and earn money to buy it back.

Is there any genre you are specifically looking for? Would you consider non-fiction? Do you mean no smut, or literally no reference to people in a relationship? I think if you can be a bit more specific you might get more useful responses.
What jumps to mind right away is The Summer Book by Tove Jansson. It’s about a grandmother and her young granddaughter and a summer they spend together.

Any Newbery Honor book published from 1980 to about 1999 will suit. Most are tame in both violence and romance, but have solid themes and adventure and deal with real life.
