Hello everybody. As the tittle suggests, im looking for books that cover more recent world events, not particularly only limited to geo-political conflicts.

For reference, im from South America, living in Denmark, and im constantly seeing the good, the bad and the ugly of both sides of my story in those places. And i have regular deep talks and discussions with good friends, also in my situation, observing things people from here might not be aware of.

I have read during university and after, some know books, like Howard Zinn´s and Eric Hobsbawm´s " the 4 eras".
Those in particular would be a re-read, just because its been such a long time and could be nice to refresh the content, also because so much happened in my life and the world.

Contents and subjects im interested in:

    -Recent world history events

-geopolitical conflicts – any of the wars in the last 50 years

-big corporations – ( food production, agriculture, pesticides, oil, etc) , banking corporations, big farma.

I dont watch tv news, and i share some ocassional links with good friends from certain events, to discuss further.

The conversations end up in the same subjects: choosing between security/stability and freedom. So that catapults us to discussions about country invsions and political and economical interests in certain regions, the school system, styles of living( or alternative living, as some people call it- growing more of your food, off the grid life, alternative energy sources, medicinal herbs, self-build, and so on), the pandemics, etc.

Title recomended in the other subreddit that i will check out:

    The jakarta method- Bevins

    how democracies die- Levitsky
    Prisioners of geography- Marshall
    Dopesick- Beth Macy.

    Any other titles to add?

Titles i have at home and have read, not extremely related with with, but a bit maybe:

"The one starw revolution "and "The dragonfly will be the messiah"- FUKUOKA

"this cant be happening" and "regenesis"-MONBIOT

    Silent spring – R. CARSON

"drug use for grown ups" – C.L. HART.

Now that i remember…1984 could be a relevant tittle for this list as well haha

Thanks in advance, and do not hold back. I dont mind if its "too conspiracy theorist". Im looking for something very critical to "the system", sharp, that will make me question well…basically everything.
