I need a book series without sexual violence – preferably medium steam. Preferably with FMC over the age of 24. Preferably a series so I don't have to decide what to read again for a little bit. Prefer a FMC. Gender of Love Interest is open.
I just finished the first Outlander book and I really enjoyed it until the last 10% of the book where there is a lot of unnecessary sexual violence and just bizarre choices by the author. I looked up a few spoilers and the rest of the books have a lot more sexual violence and I will not be finishing.
I prefer medium steam. High steam isn't a deal breaker but sometimes I end up skipping through those scenes. I'm definitely no prude but it just depends on what mood I'm in/what I'm doing when the scene starts.
Other romance I've read:
Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Favorite book of all time. The romance was meant to be. Little bit of science. Little bit of fantastical slice of life. Love it.
Seven Husbands of Evalyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Not what I'd call a romance romance. It's definitely a love story. LGBT themes were great.
ACOTAR by Sarah J Maas. Read them because everyone else was. I kind of loved to hate them. FMC is an idiot. I liked some of the world building. Overall meh.
The Night and Its Moon (and the rest of the series) by Piper CJ. Another fantasy romance. Some LGBT themes eventually. Liked it ok. I think it tried too hard to be too many things. It was god's & prophecy AND Romance AND demond AND conspiracies AND magic AND war. It was too much. Various love triangles were fun.
I've read some like straight up smut. Some trying to be like good with attempts at plots and stuff. Some were just silly. I want more romance than smut. Not what I'm looking for

Oh it’s hard to beat Time Traveler’s Wife!
Hmmm.
What about the Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn? It’s a bit lighter and fluffier but very fun.
Or if it is more classic literature that you want, maybe try Memoirs of a Geisha. (arthur golden)
Or if it is more high fantasy with romantic elements, how about Tigana (guy gavriel kay)
