This year I've pushed myself to start reading for fun rather than for school, and I'm currently figuring out what I like. So far the two authors that I gravitate to the most are Kurt Vonnegut and Chuck Palahniuk. But I'm trying to find more relatable stories to me and I know POC and queer authors are the ones who will give it to me. (I know Chuck is gay, but all of his stories that I've read were about cis het white men, so not what I am looking for).
I think the two things that draw me to these two writers are their complicated characters, who you're not always rooting for, and can be morally grey, but they are still relatable, even if you don't like it. And their humor. I like that their books aren't out-right comedies but still have a sense of humor throughout. With those two qualities, or even one or the other, genre doesn't matter to me.
Ok, I've rambled enough :3
