Book Recomendation for picky family member.

My wife’s uncle is a big reader and primarily reads history books regardless of topic.

This is what I have decided to get him for Christmas, however he has specified that he only takes history books seriously if they have all credible sources and all the reference material is accurate and sound and not taking liberties for the sake of the book.

Does anybody have any good history recommendations for this.
