But not super uplifting scifi either!
I love science fiction and after reading a ton of older science fiction books I’ve been enjoying more recent scifi (basically 2000-now) but I keep picking up books that are super existentialist or gritty. For example, Leviathan Wakes (Corey), Annihilation (VanderMeer), Lagoon (Okorafor).
I’m looking for books that aren’t like that, but they don’t have to be cheerful. Just not excessively bleak or with kids getting shot in the head please lol. I liked those books but I want something not so miserable
I have read Murderbot and Ancillary Justice and unfortunately I really don’t like Andy Weir.
Any suggestions? Again they can totally have bad things happen. I just don’t want the entire book to be bad things happening
