I want to get my son a couple of books for Christmas. Both as a gift and as a way to encourage him to spend less time on his phone, lol.

He doesn't really read now so I can't give you examples of books he likes. But he plays a lot of Xbox and some of the games he plays are Skyrim, Elden Ring, Dark Souls and Hades.

Not sure how well that genre of games would translate to books.

    Any suggestions?

    1. I would argue that those games all fall into the kind of fantasy realm of books. Given he’s 14 there are tons and tons of options for him.

Not really fantasy but Ender’s game is a great coming of age Sci-Fi novel. It’s really engaging and fairly easy going so might be a good shout.

If you think fantasy might be more his thing then something like Eragon could also be a good place to start.

Do you think he’d like graphic novels? They can be good if your attention span isn’t the greatest. He may like Hellboy by Mike Mignola.

More in line with Skyrim and Dark Souls would be probably be HP Lovecraft.
