I have read the lies of locke lamora, and truly enjoyed the secret world the gang had created for themselves and how to book was centered around lockes con career. But there were fantasy elements in the book too.
Similarly I’ve read babel, where the book is centered around languages and it’s very much dark academia but there was magic in translation. I guess fantasy realism? I don’t know what it’s called.
Please suggest me some books that have a hint of fantasy. No complex world building. And absolutely NO monsters, cannot take monsters seriously. also no aliens. Nothing ridiculous.
I have read the blacktongue thief and genuinely couldn’t get into the book because of the monsters and the trolls.
I’d love a well written book as if the writing has its own personality.
