I’m almost 44, I have ADHD and I once enjoyed reading but smartphones have destroyed what little attention span I once had. I’m so sick of looking at my phone all the time and I’m ready to jump back into reading. I’m hoping that I can share some of my interests and the type of books I’ve enjoyed in the past and you lovely people can make some recommendations for me.
I work in the wine industry and I love studying wine but I’m about to jump back into a major certification program so probably no wine books (but maybe because I love wine). I love to travel, I am an avid birder, a fly fisherman, a forager, a hiker and most importantly a husband and a father.
I was an avid reader as a teenager and I absolutely loved Gary Paulson’s books. I like biographies, I am an information junkie so I’ve always gravitated towards non-fiction but I think I’d to focus more on fiction. I like sci-fi but I’m not into super geeky stuff (I’m totally a nerd, that’s just not my speed). I’ve read a few Bill Bryson novels and I liked them but not enough to want to read another one. My wife is an avid reader and I’ll be picking her brain as well but I think we probably have different tastes in books.
What should I read?
