My niece is turning 12 soon, nephew is turning 14 in a couple of months.

They have asked for books for Christmas, specifically "funny, not serious" books.

They are both good readers but still quite innocent (they are rural kids, not allowed social media yet and have had limited access to computer games), not quite ready for more mature "teenage" content yet and may not relate to the more modern urban stories for tweens that revolve around "influencers" etc. They seem to like quirky humour.

Can anyone suggest any good funny books that are not too childish, but also not too mature "teenagery"?

    So far I am thinking:

For nephew (age 13 almost 14):
    Evil Emperor Penguin graphic novel?
    Memoirs of a Neurotic Zombie?
(Not sure whether these are too childish?)

For Niece (age 11 almost 12):
    Withering Tights?
Petunia Perry and the Curse of the Ugly Pigeon?

    Thank you!
