Hey everyone,
Today I am looking for a book that checks a few marks. Its going to be a present for a 15yo boy, with a bit of a struggling past.
For me it's important to gift something he would a) enjoy; b) profit off of.
Things I am looking for:
- darkish story; tragic/struggling protagonist, with a good ending
- overcoming obstacles, not just physical but also mental hardships
- Book contained within itself, so no bigger series
- Potentially some religious themes sprinkled in
- A strong core conflict the book adresses (e.g. peoples drives, societal problem,…)
- Ambitious writing style (for a teen);I want to challenge him and his mind, he's got great potential, just lacks motivation
I've been thinking about Fairy Tale by Stephen King, but I am not sure its a good call.
