My husband (30) wants to get back into reading after not reading much since he was a teenager. So far he has just been re-reading books from his childhood, but I’d like to get him an adult novel for Christmas.
His favorite book series as a kid were Harry Potter, Eragon, Percy Jackson, and Enders Game.
I have read the first books of The Expanse and The Stormlight Archive series, and I think he would like both of those, but they are both really long books. I think he needs a shorter read to get into the adult book genres.

Red Rising is the answer! Lots of action, short book, long series if the interest is there!
Red Rising? Or maybe one of the other Brandon Sanderson books – Mistborn or Tress of the Emerald Sea?
Project Hail Mary before movie releases in Spring.
I would suggest any of the Discworld novel books. It’s a HUGE series that doesn’t need to be read on any particular order but they are all very fun.
