Hello 🙂
I'm not sure whether this post belongs here but I still hope somebody can help me. I've been looking but somehow am not able to find an introductory book on American democracy and philosophical thought where the history (or certain thinkers) and connections are explained and not only consists of like half of Plato's Republic without explaining anything.
So I am interested in a book that explains the importance of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Federalist Papers (including the pursuit of happiness (as a non-American that confuses me greatly)) but also but also the way, e.g, Plato's Republic, Aristotle's The Politics, Locke's Second Treatise,Toqueville, and Whitman's "Democratic Vistas", have influenced and shaped the understanding of American democracy (or the way they understood it). Additionally, a book that simply explains the history of and philosophy behind American democracy.
If anyone has any recommendations, that would be great!!

*Liberalism* by Domenico Losurdo isn’t exactly what you’re asking for but it does analyze famous liberal politicians and philosophers from U.S. and Europe.
