Hello there! As the title suggests, I'm looking for some suggestions for books that feature a strong bond between a human and either an animal or some sort of monster/creature/cryptid. Crucially, one where the animal/creature/monster doesn't die and isn't totally seperated from their human companion at the end!
The only example I can think of off the top of my head is Aslan in The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe. One of my favourite books!
I actually love all things horror so anything with a little strangeness/spooky/dark/gothic/folktale feel would be sooo, so appreciated but I know that is a little harder to find since animals don't tend to have much luck in the horror world and monsters tended to be more "monster VERSUS human" than "monster AND human" 🥲
Beyond that I'm open to any genre really!
