I enjoyed titles like “long Way Down” by Jason Reynolds, “The Perks Of Being A Wall Flower” by Steven Chbosky, and “Animal Farm” by George Orwell. I am a 14 y/o male and I am looking for a title like these.

Some really good titles here – I’m glad to know that Perks is alive and well in the minds of high schoolers still.

This is a bit more “mature”, but when I was in high school the next step up from Perks and books like it was anything by Donna Tartt. The Secret History and The Goldfinch are two absolute must-reads and you’ll love coming back to them later.

    2. Those three are very different titles! You’ve got a couple of classics, plus emotional depth and moral/ethical dilemmas.

      Here’s my suggestions…

Three classics: The Outsiders, Catcher in the Rye, The Crysalids

Three authors: Patrick Ness, John Green, Robert Cormier

    3. If you like Perks, you might enjoy John Green’s books! They’re also very emotional and engaging.

    4. John Green, as was said: Looking for Alaska, The Fault in Our Stars, Turtles All the Way Down.
