Gunnar's Daughter or West With the Night or The First No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Something like that. Any other ideas? I've already read to her all 50+ Nancy Drew some years ago. Are there any Harry Potter-like books with female lead? OK thanks y'all.

The Nevermoor series by Jessica Townsend is a Harry Potter-like series with a female main character, Morrigan Crow.

She’s 12? She already has attachments regarding what books are important to her, and what books remind her of her relationship with you. Use those interests to guide you. iMO it will mean so much more if it’s something that has meaning for her and the two of you.
Ella Enchanted or Fairest by Gail Carson Levine could both be good. They’re Cinderella and Snow White adaptations, respectively.
