My twins are 3, and just starting to understand different sexes (as in, they understand they are different, they know mom & dad are different etc). We live in a fairly rural red state and they are being introduced to a lot of heteronormative ideas at daycare and don’t see a lot of different family structures, different kinds of people, people expressing gender differently (except for some of our friends). I’d love to get some books for bedtime that center around queer & transgender folk, inclusive family structures etc. These are books we would read to them, so ideally something like picture books, not chapter books.
