I’m doing a read around the world challenge beginning in 2026. I want to read a book that takes place in, or is written by an author from, every country in the world. I’ve already knocked out a large number of countries but I will still attempt to go in order and just skip the ones I’ve covered. I am aware this will be a multi year project so do not balk at recommending a longer book.
Genre wise, a nonfiction account of an event from said country is amazing. Examples being Stalingrad, for Russia, All the Shah’s Men for Iran, Hiroshima for Japan, etc. or, an author from said country that writes a novel that takes place in said country, and isn’t too fantastical, etc. The limit here is probably counting One Hundrd Years of Solitude for Colombia, if that makes sense.
So I am asking for recs from the following countries, for now:
- Albania
- Algeria
- Andorra
- Angola
- Antigua and Barbuda
- Armenia
- Australia
- Austria
- Azerbaijan
I have covered Afghanistan and Argentina 🙂
TIA
