My parents are both in their fifties so I would prefer book suggestions that aren't classics because they might have already read them. Also no books with smut as I am a teenager so it'd be really weird if I gifted my parents those sorts of books.
My dad likes fantasy and sci-fi. I'm not sure what specifically he's into, I know he really likes Star trek and he enjoyed Brandon Sanderson. He also really liked watching Delicious in Dungeon. I'd love to hear some sci-fi recommendations as I feel like we don't own a whole lot.
My mom likes fantasy and romance. She's also kind of a therapist so she reads a lot of non fiction books about ptsd, did, narcissistic parents, etc. So she might enjoy books that touch on trauma if they're accurately depicted. She has recently discovered that she's bisexual so books with wlw characters/relationships would be great. She also likes powerful/empowered woman. Some books she's enjoyed are: The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson, The Extraordinary Adventures of the Athena Club series by Theodora Goss, and The Last True Poets of the Sea by Julia Drake.
