I’d really appreciate recommendations for books where someone chooses to keep their love hidden and doesn't seek reciprocation. A character who is genuinely at peace with loving quietly and in secret.
Something in the spirit of this poem:
I choose to love you in silence,
for in silence I find no rejection.
I choose to love you in loneliness,
for in loneliness no one owns you but me. Etc.
