When I bought The Creative Act by Rick Rubin (audiobook), I expected a straightforward “how-to” guide on creativity. Instead, it’s more like a series of short reflections on the creative process and the creative experience.
It wasn’t what I had in mind, but it’s become a surprisingly reliable source of wisdom and inspiration for me. I usually listen to it at night when I’m trying to fall asleep because the tone is so calming. I also love that I can jump into any chapter and still come away with a small insight or moment of reflection. And if I drift off while listening, I don’t feel like I’ve lost the plot or need to rewind.
I’d love recommendations for other books that follow a similar format or vibe, but which focus on topics NOT specifically related to creativity. Bonus if the audio book narrator has a soothing voice. Thanks!
