So, a bit about me; I would say I'm self indulgent in bitterness, I prefer black coffee to lattes, IPA beers, and my usual taste in books is filled with Joe Ambercrombie, Octavia Butler and history books of human atrocities greatest hits.

But I like lighter media and happy songs as much the next person so I wasn't adverse to picking up Becky Chambers short cozy sci fi and I was curious to see how it would go, and WOW, I'm so glad I did. The dedication of this book is "to anyone who could use a break" and with all that the world is right now that felt apt. The story has no huge conflicts or consequences, no moments of extreme tension, but the world building felt so immersive and it was, well, cozy. The last conversation between the monk and robot is one I have with myself on a regular basis and I felt touched to see it written right in front of me. I loved this book, I only wish it was longer.

now I'm on to the sequel but I'm curious, do yall know if other cozy lit has this feel? I didn't originally have any interest in legends and lattes or similar fair but maybe now I'll check it out? I just loved how the book made me feel and the world it put me in, so now I'm chasing that dragon.

    1. Honestly, I’ve never been able to find anything quite like Psalm for the Wild-Built. I loved that book and the sequel but they really are one of a kind.
