• loving academics, failing anyway; feeling behind in all life aspects
• mc has horrible memory/chronic headaches or other illnesses
• overactive mind
• mc doesnt see future for themselves, very conscious of own mortality, convinced of their own premature mortality
• seen as very independent by parents and others; therefore got left alone to deal with things -> having to put in twice as effort but with no significant success in the end
