Hi everyone! I’m trying to pick out a book for a friend who really enjoys:
• Classic literature
• Greek mythology
• Fantasy
She loves rich world-building, mythic themes, and stories that feel timeless. I don’t know her exact reading history, so open to anything from myth retellings to classic fantasy or myth-inspired novels.
What books would you recommend for someone with those interests and why? Thanks in advance!

Circe by Madeline Miller
I, Claudius which is fantastic. I’m currently reading Augustus by John Williams and it’s just as good.
The Count of Monte Cristo for classic lit.
The Last Wish or Game of Thrones imo for fantasy.
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller is a beautifully written retelling of the Iliad through the eyes of Patroclus. It’s lyrical, deeply emotional, and rooted in Greek myth but feels fresh and immersive.
The Greek retellings by Jennifer Saint: Ariadne, Elektra, Hera and Atlanta
The King Must Die by Mary Renault
