I am feeling like the older I get, the more wisdom I crave. I know, you can google most and do your own research but I find that really narrows down the information you can consume, especially if you don't know what questions to ask. Canadas ban on media on most platforms has made me blind to what is going on unless you know exactly where to go and what to look into, and I honestly feel like I have wool over my eyes and have just be ignorant to learn and acknowledge what goes on in the world.
I am feeling like I am not well versed in previous historical events, what is going on currently in our economy, what is happening with the mass amounts of media we consume, how to bring ourselves back to the basics or reformat what we think – as of right now I believe I don't have original thoughts, they are all formed by those around me subconsciously and I WANT a change in perspective. I did not pay attention to most things in school – cue the I don't want to be here highschool mentality – and I really wish I was a better student in the past. I am embarrassed by how little I know in my mid 20s.
I am open to any suggestion on books that have made you sit there and reflect on your own life, or have made you dig a little deeper into some things. Looking for a spark of inspiration to start learning new facts! Can be any genre, about anything at all. I am even open to books that help reframe the way we think (ex. louise hay you can heal your life made me start being more aware of my internal thoughts and dialogue which has helped me push back on some beliefs I previously had). Someone recommended The Nightingale which showcases some aspects of World War II, though its main focus is not on the war.
Thank you in advance…it is much appreciated.
