I was never much of a reader growing up as I find it relatively boring and I would always view it as a chore for me to skim through the pages to reach to the finish line of the chapter while my brain gets tirelessly worned out. All the internet and social media had depleted my attention span and my cognition abilities, and so I figured that maybe if I were to pick up a book and read, it will help rebuild my focus.
The problem is some of the books that I attempt to read were slightly challenging to comprehend or the use of vocabulary are too advanced and it makes me want to give up. But, recently, I decided to settle the reading range around elementary level so it would make it easier for me to actively engage, and went and pick myself up some Goosebump books, which are children's horror genre novels. They are generally about 80 or 100 pages minimum and the chapters are short at best, because I do not have enough discipline or the capacity to go through 300-500 pages (at least not yet). As an adult, I should be able to read more advanced material, but there shouldn't be any shame in reading children's books.
I figured maybe if I were to start from there, I can slowly gravitate more into more advanced material and keep making it a habit of reading. I am looking forward for more elementary level books to start off and like to know what are some of your suggestions I can look into.
