I've read quite a few novels about women coming to terms with their sexuality and dealing with their families' reactions, etc, but it's tough to find stories where the focus isn't on some kind of struggle with queerness. I'm also not interested in romance. I'm basically looking for a story about a woman who has a wife or girlfriend just living her life (like straight women do all the time in books). Open to books where the relationship is central to the story, or where it isn't at all. Extra points if they have kids.

The only one I've been able to find is Our Wives Under the Sea, which veered a bit too science fiction-y for me.

Some books I've recently enjoyed: Perfection, The Rachel Incident, Exteriors, If You Love It, Let it Kill You, On the Calculation of Volume I, Writers & Lovers, Big Swiss, The Guest, Oh, William!, Either/Or.

    1. Bury our bones in the midnight soil by VE Schwab. Might fit your requirements, but it is very dark and everybody is toxic. However, it’s also very good.
