I need a great book suggestion for my partner for Christmas.
Loves unique/interesting history perspectives, sci fi, speculative fiction, general weirdness. Dislikes most popular fiction and most literary fiction, and not into pop science books.
Here's what's currently been tripping his reading interest for the last year or so (and some past loves that if there was something similar he'd love):
Martha Wells: Murderbot series (has ALL). Been trying her fantasy but it hasn't hit.
Arkady Martine: A Memory Called Empire/A Desolation Called Peace
N.K. Jemisin: Inheritance Trilogy and Broken Earth Trilogy (he liked one of these better than the other but can't remember)
Becky Chambers: Really enjoyed the Monk/Robot series and the 2nd of her wayfarers series books, but thought the last three in that series were not great.
Ted Chiang: loved his short stories
Kevin Wilson: The Family Fang
George Saunders: All
The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity
Silk Roads
Currently reading The Three Body Problem, and starting to really get into it.
Thanks so much!
