Hey everyone! I’m looking for book recommendations based on what I tend to love, and I’m hoping to branch out beyond just sci-fi.
Some of my favorite books are Project Hail Mary, The Martian, The Girl With All the Gifts, Dark Matter, Sea of Tranquility, and Wool.
I’m drawn to stories with strong atmosphere, mystery, tension, and big “what if” ideas, especially when they’re grounded in believable characters and emotional weight. I love books that make you think and keep you turning pages. I am currently reading Recursion and am really loving it so far!
That said, I’m very open to recommendations outside of sci-fi — especially:
- speculative or literary fiction
- thrillers with a strong hook
- atmospheric horror (more eerie than gory)
- survival or adventure stories
- character-driven books with a strong concept

everyone always recommends it, but obligatory 11/22/63 by stephen king. sci fi, time travel, character development, it’s got it all. check it out!
If you haven’t read Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, it seems like you might like it!
Anything by John Irving and Pat Conroy. Ben Bova’s Grand Tour series.
