….where you think the movie/series adaptation is BETTER than the book!
.
For me this is a rarity, but the first one that always comes to mind is The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

The Godfather
Die Hard/Nothing Lasts Forever
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Lawrence of Arabia/Seven Pillars of Wisdom
This might be vastly unpopular but I found The Lord of the Rings trilogy vastly more accessible as movies vs as books. I’ve read the trilogy and it’s just…so verbose.
I did not feel the same about The Hobbit 😆
*The expanse* by James Corey
*The last kingdom* by Bernard Cornwell
The Godfather,
Bridge over the River Kwai
Theo Bourne identity series
The Talented Mr Ripley
no country for old men. book is great but the movie is iconic
The Summer I Turned Pretty, for sure!
Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain stands pretty toe to toe with Proulx’s story I think, though the story is technically as perfect as something can be. Also Patrick McCabe Breakfast on Pluto adaptation is pretty strong.
Stardust. Even the author said the movie was better.
*The Princess Bride*
Shining Through, which mostly tells you how bad the book was.
Jaws. Best movie in history. Book is so bad that Peter Benchley should apologize for not being Spielberg.
Fight Club
Interview with the Vampire (the show)
The Warriors by Sol Yurick
The Thin Red Line
