hi all! i’m a 21 year old girl and i’m starting a new job soon that will have a very long commute so i figured that i should pick up reading. i haven’t read since highschool and i feel like my speaking and overall articulation has declined quite a bit due to this. also, most of my free time is spent doomscrolling on reels and tiktok, and also watching netflix 🙁

during highschool i enjoyed the classics (although i feel like i enjoyed the analysing part more than reading itself) — and english was my best subject. i would say i gravitated towards deep existential books that dealt with identity and that sort of stuff. i’ve also always been into manhwas and webtoons that are fantasy/romance/historical. nevertheless i’m looking for recommendations for long (but not super long and overwhelming) books that will challenge my reading skills and improve my language, but are also enjoyable to read and with a good message. i enjoy books where the main conflict isn’t with a monster or something, but rather, with themselves or some sort of system or way of thinking. im sorry if that doesn’t make sense … i also study engineering and biomed/anatomy so im also interested in nonfiction books about the body or connection between the body and mind.

sorry for such a long post!! but thank you for reading this far 🙂 would greatly appreciate any suggestions, thinking of picking up “i want to die but i want to eat tteokbokki”, but i definitely want to try reading 1 book per month next year !!
