I’m looking for books very similar to Pride and Prejudice. Some very, very light romance (no smutty books please) Really just something with tension and yearning to keep you wanting to turn the pages. Preferably set in the same era but open to other time periods

Georgette Heyer!! My favorites are Arabella, Cotillion, and Friday’s Child but a lot of people love The Grabd Sophy and Frederica. The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery.

You could try Longbourn by Jo Baker. It tells a story from the pov of the working class people that have to serve the Bennett family. A different perspective but very beautiful. You’ll have to look up whether it’s particularly smutty but I don’t remember it being so.

If you really want yearning and 0 smut, then you simply have to read Persuasion!

    3. Jane Austen’s other five novels (Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey, Persuasion) also deal with romance between different societal classes, obligations to family and taboo affairs.

Another vote for Georgette Heyer. No spice/smut, very Jane Austen in “feel” but written over a hundred years later.

      I’ll recommend *Frederica*.
