So all I know is my mom likes drama novels and maybe romance novels and that's pretty much it. I want to buy her a book for Christmas but as I said I don't know much so please suggest something that's I guess highly liked.
My mother in law is a bulk fiction gal and also hard to buy for. I try to get her wildcards (that aren’t Janet Evanovich) to get her out of her comfort zone a bit.
Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King is great. Pachinko by Min Jin Lee is beautiful. Both protagonists are mothers.

I own this Jane Austen collection from Barnes and Noble and would recommend it to anyone:

Hard not knowing what kind of books she likes!

I vote for Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts.
