Suggest me a book for one of my guy friends! He’s a 40M & I’d consider him a first time reader so looking for something that isn’t too complex with world building or too lengthy. Want him to build some confidence with reading so he wants to continue on. Thinking he’d enjoy SciFi and Fantasy reads. Not a gamer. TIA!!

I think he might dig **World War Z** by Max Brooks. It’s written as a nonfiction oral history of the zombie plague that almost wiped out humanity. Each chapter is a new survivor from all over the world, so it’s almost like a bunch of short stories, and the easy to put down/pick up.
It’s not a comedy by any means, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously (and if you e ever seen the movie by the same name, just know there is basically nothing the two have in common other than the general concept of zombies).
I would recommend Blake Crouch. Prose is straight forward, fast paced and easy to get in to. Dark Matter, or my personal favorite Recursion would probably be a good fit for him.
Also recommend 1984. A classic that everyone can and should read.
