I (35f) recently became friendly with a 79-year old Irish man. He is a doctor, has been practicing since the 80s. He lives in the United States, he’s a father & grandfather, enjoys long drives, jazz music, and listening to medical stories on BBC radio. He drives me to the grocery store every weekend and delivers sweet treats to me weekly- his kids live in other states and his wife is agoraphobic so I think he enjoys having company for our brief encounters. I want to gift him a book for Christmas. Something fiction, interesting and not too sad (though I think he may enjoy a drama or mystery). He lost a son at a young age and his brother more recently so preferably no immediate family deaths in the plot!
