So Backman is a genius – if you know you know— no one writes like him at all. I read all of his books within a few months and read his long awaited new book (My Friends) immediately after its release.
I’m having withdrawals and nothing satisfies the itch. I need recommendations as fast as you can possibly give them. PLEASE!
Only read this part if you’re somewhat of a literature nerd: I’ve got a background in linguistics and composition, so I love the style he writes in. He is very manipulative (in the best way), using an Omniscient Narrator, false foreshadowing/ misdirection, non-linear narratives, very direct, ALL CAPS, type of language… I could go on.
The author I compare him to most is Lemony Snicket (DH). Not because they’re anything alike story wise, but their style of writing is so similar— the wit, the misdirection, the repetition, etc.
ANYWAY- HELP. I feel like I’m reading aimlessly , right now, each book not satisfying the itch, and feeling pointless . I need something good 🙂
