On a whim, I looked over several “books that feel like Stranger Things” and this one on just about all of them.
The cover of mine looks like a well-worn VHS case you’d find on the way out of rotation at Block Buster and I wish this sub would let me show it!
The premise seems very interesting. Curious what the group thought and how it stacks up against similar stories.

I enjoyed it and it definitely hit the 1980s nostalgia including the satanic panic of the era. Not that I’m nostalgic for *that*. And yeah, the book cover design is pretty great!
I loved it! There is 80s nostalgia of course, but it’s also a really emotional story about friendship. If you enjoy it, you’d probably love Grady Hendrix’s other books too.
I have greatly enjoyed all of the Grady Hendrix books I have read.
It kinda captures the ’80s vibe that Stranger Things had. If it sounds appealing to you, definitely worth checking out. I personally didn’t enjoy it, but I’ve read a few books by the author now and none of them have really clicked for me (love the concepts, but hate the execution and don’t like how the author writes female characters).
