Any books with survivors in confided place waiting out a tragedy or apocalypse or just straight up mass confusion? Something like the Mist or maybe even blindness where the story takes place mostly in 1 area while events are happening outside it?

I would've added the horror tag but mystery is more accurate. I need something that's stationary so the focus on people degrading overtime and big things are happening outside and they're a mystery meanwhile people are trying to manage in their bubble of safety in some nook and cranny. I liked the Mist but I'm at my limits with steven king. I cannot read anymore of him.

also no blindness recommendation, i just got finished with it.
