I was a bookseller for the hottest of minutes, many moons ago. I loved talking to to my customers about books on human sexuality. It was the best.
One category I was always a stranger to was erotica/romance novels.
Its bugged me for ages that I never discovered anybody at my job that could give thoughtful suggestions to me for nontoxic reads.
I read mostly scifi, political nonfiction, and music theory books. I'm not looking for erotica with a sci-fi or fantasy bent. I need something thats very sultry, progressive, hopelessly modern, that unabashedly gets trashy only to beg the question "what was that?".
I have a copy of Rush by Maya Banks. While I'm finding the novel a little titillating, due to my admitted ignorance of the genre, I can't helpwonder I'm filling in the subtextual gaps with my own ideas that will ultimately go ignored by the author.
I made this post for r/romancebooks though they have this weird karma rule for sololiciting book suggestions that loses me.
Tell me what I'm looking for.
