In need of quick and easy to read books that are well written and have great character development

I’m at a loss for what to read. I want to get swept away by a new, yet familiar book, that isn’t overly complicated but has dimension to the plot and characters. Open to genres except for horror and true crime/thriller. Not opposed to a series as long as it fits the other criteria.
