Hi everyone!
I have kind of a weird, informal tradition in my yearly reading journey where I read a Stephen King novel between 12/26-12/31 every year.
I don’t even remember why this started, but for like 7 or 8 years now, I’ve read one of his books during this time, and I now associate him exclusively with New Year’s Eve, since I am usually finishing up one of his books the morning of as I do whatever prep I need to for the coming day.
Here is what I’ve read so far:
Misery
The Shining
Pet Sematary
Salem’s Lot
Carrie
Sleeping Beauties (technically Owen King, I know)
Doctor Sleep
It
I would like it to be horror, and I want a full length novel. However, I specifically don’t want to try The Stand because I know it’s lengthy and I fear after last year’s “It” debacle (barely finished it in time) and with how busy I will be this year as well, it won’t work out.
I would like to try one of his newer books, but I’ve heard such mixed things, so I thought I’d ask here for recommendations! Also, extra points to any with wintery vibes (though I suspect I got the good ones out of the way already!)
Also, I will be both listening to the audiobook and reading along.
