Hi, I recently got back into reading. Being a wife and mom of a 2 and 3 year old while working full time, it’s hard to carve out the time to read. But I’ve discovered romance books. A great escape if you will. I specifically like comedic romance books that aren’t toooo serious or stuffy. Here’s what I’m looking for:

    1. I love the trope that they’re apart of the same friend group but do NOT like each other for any reason(he finds her to uptight and she finds him annoying etc). But the friends host a lot of parties/hangouts so they are around each other a lot. Or they work together or work adjacent to each other (like the guy is a police officer and the girl is a prosecutor)

    2. They somehow get entangled in an enemies with benefits situation and over time, they end up catching feelings but both are too scared/prideful to admit it.

    3. Big falling out. The guy and girl say some shitty things to each other. The girl goes back to being stoic, reserved. The guy realizes he actually loves her and knows he hurts her and tries to fix things. The girl isn’t having it.

    4. Maybe something bad happens to one of them to make them realize they need to apologize and admit their feelings. Maybe the guy decides he needs to grovel and win the girl over.

Idk. I’m daydreaming at work. I specifically don’t want anything historical, fantasy etc. A book I just read that is like this that makes me want to read more is “Asking for Trouble” by Tessa Bailey and “It Happened One Wedding” by Julie James.

    1. That is essentially the Beatrice/Benedick plot in Much Ado About Nothing! I bet you’d get some good recs if you search for romance novel retellings of that.
